Doctors
Dr. Brenda M. Whitlow McGregor is a native of Western Tennessee and earned a liberal arts degree majoring in the sciences at the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1975. She is listed in Who's Who in American High Schools, Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges, and Who's Who in the Southeast. She received her doctorate from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee in 1979. She completed her externship at Fort Campbell, Kentucky in the summer of 1978. After receiving her doctor of optometry degree, she practiced with the renowned Dr. Irvine Felderman in Memphis. He was a past professor of optometry, publisher of professional textbooks on contact lenses and owner of many patents involving contacts. In 1981, she moved to South Carolina with her husband and began to practice part-time with Dr. Wayne Brock in downtown Greenville and part-time in Anderson and Spartanburg until she purchased her first practice in Mauldin's Oaktree Professional Plaza. Within three years, she had to relocate because of space and moved to Owens Lane for nine years before moving to the present location on Woodruff Road. Everyone thought she was crazy moving to an area in the country with not much around but she had a vision of growth and the remainder is history. Dr. Brent C. Collins, a native of Hendersonville, NC, has lived in Greenville for 28 years. He received a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Clemson University in 1993 and earned a doctorate of optometry in 1998 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. He has extensive knowledge of the latest contact lens materials and the fitting philosophies of each. His other specialties include helping identify and provide solutions for presbyopic, high myopic, hyperopic, and astigmatic patients. Dr. Collins is also experienced with corneal pathology secondary to foreign body exposure, keratitis, infection, allergies, and contact lens complications. Referrals are welcome for hypertensive, diabetic, SLE, and any other conditions where ocular manifestations must be ruled out. He is also Office Manager for McGregor & Associates and has more than seven years experience as a therapeutic certified optometrist. Dr. Collins enjoys frequent traveling, and is involved in many community activities. Dr. Randall Baughman is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. After undergraduate studies at both Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Baughman earned his Doctor of Optometry degree at The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1982. He was active in the Delta Tau Delta fraternity serving in a number of leadership roles. Dr. Baughman started his optometry career as a medical misssionary in Mombasa, Kenya and is fluent in Swahili. He served there for more than five years and worked with and learned from more than twenty U.S. Ophthalmologists who came for short-term mission trips. He also hosted a short-term trip for two U.S. optometrists. From 1988 to 1999, Dr. Baughman worked in southern Illinois, joining three ophthalmologists he met in Kenya. He became experienced in contact lens fitting for patients needing bifocal and astigmatism corrections. He also provided post-operative surgical care, treated a variety of eye injuries, low vision services and grew in his knowledge of glaucoma care. Dr. Brenda McGregor brought his expertise to her practice in 1999 where Dr. Baughman continues to give compassionate low vision, pediatric, and glaucoma care. In 2004, he received the Silver Award from The Laser Eye Centers for achieving excellence in eye care. He brings more than 20 years of experience of quality comprehensive eye examinations and prescriptions for eyewear and contact lenses. Dr. Diana James is an Upstate native. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1984 from the University of Alabama School of Optometry in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1986-87 she completed a one year Fellowship in Ophthalmic Practice at the OMNI Eye Services in Fairfax, Virginia. In 1987, she volunteered for two months of service at a mission eye hospital in Mombasa, Kenya. Dr. James has been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists since 1993. She has 24 years of experience in treating and managing ocular disease including glaucoma, dry-eye, and surgical co-management. She is well versed in specialty contact lens fitting and is quick to send a patient on for consultation with a medical doctor if the eye exam reveals an underlying health condition. Dr. Brenda McGregor brings Dr. James to the practice in full faith that she will continue the tradition of commitment to excel in treating a vision need in light of the whole persons� health. |
